The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will be hosting its 14th annual Spring Wine Extravaganza on Saturday, April 27th, from 1:00-4:00 pm on the winery grounds at 3011 East US Highway 50 in Cañon City. The celebration will showcase the release of five new wines:
1. 2018 Colorado Viognier
2. Colorado Riesling
3. 2017 Colorado Cabernet Sauvignon
4. 2017 Colorado Norton
5. 2016 Colorado Merlot Divinity, in Celebration of Best of Class/Best of Varietal - In the Jerry Mead New World International Wine Competition
This is the third Norton the winery has produced. The Abbey Winery Norton is grown at Oak Creek Vineyards in Fremont County, Colorado. It is one of the highest producing vineyards in North America, at 6,985 feet in elevation. It is owned and operated by Abbey Winemaker Jeff Stultz.
Each wine will be paired with fruits, cheeses, desserts and assorted appetizers that will best compliment the tasting experience. A special one-time pricing will be available on the wines, and winemaker Jeff Stultz will hold barrel tastings in the winery, and wine futures will be sold for the 2017 Colorado Cabernet Reserve. Pueblo’s Blue Pepper Group will provide entertainment.
