Soccer Kicks-Off in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is proud to be the home to a brand new pro soccer sports franchise. The Switchbacks Football Club (FC for short) were named after the notorious hairpin turns that wind up Pikes Peak Highway.
The team will use Sand Creek Stadium as their homebase to showoff their United Soccer League skills.
There will be 14 home games played at Sand Creek Stadium and The Switchbacks will be a part of the USL Western Conference. The inaugurel season home opener will take place Saturday, April 4th. These games are perfect fun for the whole family, a unique date night or a new group bonding experience. Tickets for single games are as low as $15. Season tickets are also an option. It’s a journey that is elevating soccer, energizing the community and charting a new course for professional sports in Colorado Springs.
For the 2015 season, the United Soccer League (USL) has overhauled its identity to step forward as a professional soccer league that is fit for its partners, clubs and fans as the dawn of a new soccer era rises.The USL now boasts 24 clubs in the U.S. and Canada. The strategic expansion of the league has led to the development of more regional competition through the reduction of travel and has further strengthened local and regional rivalries - the lifeblood of a strong professional league.
