We’ve put together a list of some of the must-see smaller events going on around the Pikes Peak Region this summer.
Annual Powwow – September 17, 2022
We invite everyone to the Garden of the Gods Rock Ledge Ranch Powwow. Our powwow celebrates and honors Native American cultures and history through song, dance, and traditions. It is a gathering that brings people together to see old friends and make new ones. Before the grand entry of dancers, a storyteller and dance troupe will perform. Enjoy an Indian taco, or other delicious food, and explore the vendors who will sell an assortment of items, mostly homemade. This is a dog-free event.

This School Program will cover the historic sites. Dress for the weather! Most of this program is outside with limited indoor space. Parent/guardian chaperones are required during the program. Our staff and volunteers are here to facilitate learning. Teachers/parent chaperones handle student behavior and model proper field trip etiquette. Picnic lunches are welcome. Picnic tables are available South of the Orchard House or by the pond. Trash and recycling receptacles are provided.
Everything But the Oink – November 12, 2022
To keep the meat from spoiling during the curing process, hogs were processed in the coolest, fall months of the year. Lard is rendered to cook, make soap, and medicines. Everyone participated in this annual event, so dress for the weather and join us at the Woodworking Shop for this educational demonstration. The Galloway Homestead will demonstrate soap making throughout the day, and you are welcome to tour the other historic site to witness sausage-making, cooking, and engage in other activities.
