Spring break, Colorado style
Updated: June 29, 2026
Colorado Springs isn’t your typical spring break vacation.
In fact, spring in the Pikes Peak Region is the most unpredictable when it comes to the weather – you might even get to experience all four seasons in one week! But with so many indoor and outdoor adventures to be had, you’ll see why we call it a year-round destination. So, pack this itinerary – and a bunch of layers – and come on over!
Cheyenne Mountain Resort offers a great year-round stay! There are two year-round swimming options, including the heated outdoor resort pool and hot tub plus the indoor 25-meter pool with a double slide. It’s also nestled into the base of Cheyenne Mountain, making for breathtaking views in both snow and shine.
Another fun choice is the Colorado Springs Marriott on the northwest side of town. The lobby includes a beautiful fireplace with couches and chairs for warming up when it’s chilly out. The indoor, heated pool is open year-round, and there are fantastic views of Pikes Peak throughout the property.

There are many restaurants in the region that source delicious, fresh ingredients for spring-themed menus. The Warehouse, located in the New South End of downtown, is a favorite that always changes the menu around the seasons. Lumen8 Rooftop Social sources thoughtful ingredients for seasonal menus like spring brunch, plus seasonal cocktails. Four by Brother Luck is also known for its seasonal ingredients and menus, delivered in four chef-curated courses.

AM: Explore Garden of the Gods Park and Nature Center
PM: Cave of the Winds Mountain Park
With its towering red rock formations and views of Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods Park is stunning in every season. In the springtime, Pikes Peak remains snowcapped, making for great photo ops from within the park. Plan on enjoying some hikes, and don’t miss the Visitor & Nature Center. If it’s cold out, the Center is a great place to warm up with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa, see the great exhibits and watch the movie at the Geo-Trekker Theatre.
In the afternoon, visit Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. Cave tours are a perfect option because the temperature inside the cave remains around 54 degrees year-round, no matter what the weather is like outside. The discovery tour is a fun way to learn about the cave history and geology. The above-ground activities at the park are also open year-round, but on a weather-permitting basis and usually with reduced off-season hours.
AM: The Broadmoor Seven Falls
PM: Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
For day 2, head to The Broadmoor Seven Falls! This park usually opens by the end of March for the season. In the springtime, the falls tend to be heavier due to the melting snowpack from the winter – so it’s a great time to see them in their full glory! Enjoy the majestic canyon views and prepare to traverse a rather steep staircase if you want to get to the top of the falls. Or, you can use the on-site Mountain Elevator to get to another great viewing point without navigating the stairs.
In the afternoon, go to Downtown Colorado Springs and check out the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum! The historic building used to be the county courthouse. Today, it’s a free museum full of exhibits that immerse you in the history and heritage of the Pikes Peak Region. Plus, in the springtime, the courtyard is full of beautiful flowers making a great picnic spot when the weather is nice!
AM: Shop in Old Colorado City
PM: Michael Garman Museum & Gallery
PM: Hike in Red Rock Canyon Open Space
Spend the day around Old Colorado City! There is plenty of shopping to enjoy, from boutiques and souvenir shops to art galleries and candy shops. After making some purchases, check out the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery! Artist Michael Garman created a unique, miniature village with sculptures called Magic Town. It includes people, cityscapes and street scenes that include so much detail, you’ll be convinced it all comes to life at night.
In the afternoon, get out on the trails at Red Rock Canyon Open Space. There are plenty of options for both hiking and mountain biking. And if you like to rock climb, you can snag a permit ahead of time to enjoy that, too!
AM: Royal Gorge Bridge & Park
PM: Royal Gorge Route Railroad
Don’t leave Colorado without checking out the Royal Gorge Region! The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is a year-round attraction that includes America’s highest suspension bridge. There is also a Skycoaster ride, gondola and Via Ferrata experience.
End your trip with a ride on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad, winding along the Arkansas River down in the canyon. The towering granite walls are beautiful when covered in snow, so if it happens to snow on your spring trip – consider yourself lucky!
