The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, established in 1936, is home to world-class art galleries, Broadway-worthy live theatre, and an art school for all ages. Also onsite are the acclaimed Café 36, with amazing patio views of Pikes Peak, and unique shopping at LUMA at the FAC. Programs for individuals, couples, families and groups make the FAC the top cultural attraction in the Pikes Peak region.
Built on the foundation of the prestigious Broadmoor Art Academy, the FAC carries the legacy of Colorado’s arts and cultural heritage. The FAC building is considered an architectural landmark in the region, designed by John Gaw Meem, and is listed on the National Register for Historical Places. In 2007, the FAC unveiled a $28.6 million renovation and expansion.
The FAC Collection features masterworks by such American artists as Richard Diebenkorn, Georgia O'Keefe, Walt Kuhn, John Singer Sargent, Dale Chihuly, and artists connected to the Broadmoor Art Academy, as well as one of the strongest collections of Hispanic, Latin American and American Indian art in the nation. A variety of traveling and special exhibitions are featured in the second floor galleries.
The award-winning Fine Arts Center Theatre Company produces an annual season of musicals, comedies and dramas from October to May. Bemis School of Art continues a 90-year tradition of arts education on the corner of Dale Street and Cascade Avenue, offering three sessions of classes for adults and kids each year.
