'We Are The Sky'

"We Are The Sky" is a dynamic group exhibition featuring over 40 talented artists from the Pikes Peak region, each bringing their unique perspective to explore powerful themes such as mental health, community identity, and innovation.

Inspired by the work of the late Colorado Springs artist Starr Kempf, known for his monumental kinetic sculptures, this exhibition invites artists to delve into the essence of Kempf’s legacy. Rather than focusing on his forms or subjects, the artists were challenged to respond to the deeper themes present in Kempf’s life and work, resulting in a diverse collection of 2D and 3D artworks, performances, and site-specific activations.

Through 19 distinct artworks, the exhibition addresses complex topics such as mental health, inclusion, and the spirit of invention, all created through a process of creative experimentation and collaboration. We Are The Sky is not just an exhibition but a celebration of the interconnectedness of individual struggles and collective resilience, showcasing the power of art to foster understanding, healing, and a more compassionate future.
