Summer Concerts in the Glen: Joe & Katie Uvegas
July 27, 2022 6:00 PM –7:15 PM
Event Summary
Joe Uveges has meandered the path of quiet musical anonymity on Colorado's front range for more than 18 years now. Raised a farm kid in Schoharie, New York, pummeled by liberal academics at Union College and Catholic University, a grizzled veteran of bar bands and coffeehouses, he should be a burned out skeleton of a man playing Allman Brother covers, tipping lukewarm Coors from a can, and lamenting broken marriages and illegitimate kids.
He is not. He is, however, happily married and fairly successfully raising 2 kids in a small 1940's style home near downtown Colorado Springs while touring the country doing 140 shows a year and promoting 8 CD's, all of which are . . . in a word . . . brilliant. Currently he plays shows with Susan Rissman and KJ Braithwaite (THE RUB), with Charlie Hall, and also does many shows each year as a solo artist at churches, festivals, and house concerts.
Summer Concerts in the Glen offer great music and an idyllic garden that is a perfect place for families and friends to gather over picnics. The concerts, which began as a way to extend the church's commitment to building community through music, are free to all, although freewill offerings are accepted.
The 2022 season began on July 6 and continues each Wednesday through August 10. Bring a picnic (no alcohol), lawn chairs or blankets, and relax with some of the best music around! Concerts will move inside in case of rain. We're grateful to our sponsors who--with you--make this possible!
