'Novel Constellations'
April 7, 2023 12:00 PM –9:00 PM
Event Summary
"Novel Constellations," a collection of works by Cymon Padilla
This body of work marks the continuation of a project I started almost ten years ago - to represent the flattening of history and popular memory post-internet on the even flatter surface of the stretched canvas. By combining digital processes and collage with the centuries-old art of traditional oil painting techniques, I breath new life into old forms and tell novel stories with forgotten characters.
_____
Cymon Padilla was born and raised in Colorado Springs and has had a lifelong interest in drawing and painting. These interests crystallized in his first oil painting class at Pikes Peak Community College, where he received his Associate of Arts degree in 2012. He has since shown his art throughout Colorado via numerous solo and group shows. His work exploits traditional oil techniques to explore the worlds of art history and pop culture.
