Event Summary
Make COATI your last stop on the First Friday Art Walk!
The entire building features local artists from portraiture to crochet and is open until Midnight!
Ephemera is proud to be highlighting art by Jesse Allan Rozell in Highlands and Jonathan Nishimoto in the main gallery. both artists work will be on view 5-10pm upstairs.
Work by Jesse: Add Ephemera to your First Friday Art Walk to see work by Jesse Allan Rozell and Jonathan Nishimoto! Tracing lineage through the Mexican diaspora has often been described as a "layered" experience.
The journey can be a navigation through complicated and incomplete history, one that is seeped in both beautiful culture and its missing parts.
Jesse's multi-media works speak on this in a truly moving way.
These pieces are comprised of vintage Mexican postcards-expanded, manipulated, and mirrored. Each piece unfolds a story seen through blurred vision, perhaps memory, depicting figures of tradition.
Work by Jonathan:
Mono-prints by Jonathan Nishimoto are on display through May 5th. This ancient style of printmaking uses water and ink to capture natural patterns. The artist gets very little control of what shapes will occur, but must select the very moment of capture when they drop the paper on to the water!
