October 30, 2024 7:00 PM –8:30 PM
Event Summary
The Grammy-Award Catalyst Quartet will perform at Packard Hall at Colorado College, as part of the Colorado College Summer Music Festival's 2024-25 Intermezzo Season.
Intermezzo Season "keeps the music alive" for Colorado Springs chamber music lovers in between the Festival's full season held every summer in June.
The Catalyst Quartet was hailed by The New York Times at its Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished… playing with earthy vigor." The ensemble was founded by the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Organization in 2010. Its members -- Karla Donehew Perez, violin; Abi Fayette, violin; Paul Laraia, viola; and Karlos Rodriguez, cello -- believe in the unity that can be achieved through music and imagine their programs and projects with this in mind, redefining and reimagining the classical music experience.
The Catalyst Quartet, known for “perfect ensemble unity” and “unequaled class of execution” (Lincoln Journal Star), has toured widely throughout the United States and abroad, including sold-out performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., at Chicago’s Harris Theater, Miami’s New World Center, and Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York.
The Colorado College Summer Music Festival provides the highest caliber, inclusive educational experience for pre-professional musicians, connecting them with preeminent performance faculty as they prepare to launch rewarding careers, while simultaneously providing vibrant and diverse concerts celebrating legacy, contemporary, and underrepresented classical music and thereby enriching the community of the Pikes Peak region.
