Traverse across dirt paths and the breathtaking alpine landscape. Take in the surrounding rocky terrain and aspen trees, embracing the outdoors of Colorado Springs in a heart-pumping way. Every year, cycling enthusiasts and advanced professionals come together to participate in the annual Pikes Peak APEX–a mountain bike competition that is held for three days. Pedal your way through winding paths along the scenic inclines of the Pikes Peak mountain range. Participants will be able to choose single-day or multi-day events during this contest.

The Pikes Peak APEX will be held over different courses in the Pikes Peak Region, including stages in Palmer Park, Cañon City and North Cheyenne Cañon.

Featured Experiences

Cycling Through Three Stages

Zip through rugged elevations and descents during the Pikes Peak APEX. The Palmer Park Prologue will stretch across an 11-mile path and participants will begin at separate timed intervals. Cañon City provides a longer race with 30 miles, starting and ending in the downtown area (tentative). The third stage of this event will be a 20-mile contest at North Cheyenne Cañon, featuring start and finish locations by The Broadmoor.

Awards & Prizes

The cash prize purse for the Pikes Peak APEX will consist of an overall total of $12,500 with particular amounts distributed for every stage win. Individual prizes will range from $100 to $2,500. There will be Top Male and Top Female titles for each stage, as well as age group winners.

Don’t miss attending the Pikes Peak APEX Rider After-Party, where live performances, an award ceremony and culinary delights await! Located at The Penrose House, dance with fellow cyclists starting at noon.
