Pikes Peak Youth Fishing Derby
September 12, 2026 8:30 AM –12:30 PM
Event Summary
Join Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain for the Youth Fishing Derby at Crystal Reservoir, located 6 miles up the Pikes Peak Highway.
This event is open to kids ages 6 to 15, with a $1 registration fee per participating child. Parents, guardians, and younger siblings can attend at no additional cost.
This small fee helps reduce no-shows and allows us to plan more accurately for participating families. Advance registration is required so we can prepare the right amount of lunch, supplies, staffing, and other event resources. If you register, please make every effort to attend, as this event takes significant time and resources to organize. If the registration fee is a barrier to participation, please email pikespeakinfo@coloradosprings.gov.
Fishing equipment will be available for participants who need it. If you already have your own fishing gear, please bring it, as loaner equipment is reserved for families who may not otherwise have access to the necessary gear.
Youth participants do not need a fishing license.
Prizes will be awarded in several fish categories, followed by a brief awards ceremony. A free hot dog lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Followed by awards at 12:30 p.m.
Thank you to our event sponsors and partners: Aramark, U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Springs Utilities, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Sportsman's Warehouse and Scheels.
