Event Summary
Discover the legacy of Charles Partridge Adams, a largely self-taught artist who mastered both oils and watercolors—a rare achievement. Moving to Denver in 1876, Adams was encouraged in his artistic pursuits by Helen Henderson Chain, a pupil of George Inness.
Charles Craig, Colorado’s first academically trained resident artist, spent fifty years capturing the spirit of the West from his studio in Colorado Springs. Nicknamed “Pink Face Charlie” for his cheerful demeanor, Craig was inspired by Western and Indian life, living among tribes from 1865 to 1869 to document their cultures with stunning accuracy.
