Journeys: Inspired by Place, Memory, and Making

Journeys brings together the work of ceramic artist Wendy Iaconis and jewelry/sculpture artist Suzy Gardner in an exhibition inspired by movement, discovery, memory, and the creative paths that shape a maker’s work.

For Wendy, this body of ceramic work grows from a recent journey through Japan, where each piece was influenced by the country’s rich ceramic traditions: quiet attention to daily ritual, the balance of simplicity and detail, natural materials, the beauty of the handmade object and the intimate experience of using pottery in everyday life. Each vessel becomes a small record of observation—a response to place, culture, and the enduring language of clay.

Suzy’s jewelry and sculpture approach the idea of journey in a more personal yet universal way. Her work explores the paths we travel through life: moments of change, connection, curiosity, and self-expression. Through thoughtfully chosen materials, form, color, and detail, her jewelry is designed to accompany the wearer, becoming part of an individual story and a meaningful daily ritual. She uses sculpture to tell the stories of her life journey and to highlight social challenges.

Together, the artists invite viewers to pause and consider the journeys that shape us—across distance, through time, and in the everyday acts of making and living.
