Join a Pikes Peak Ranger for an easy outdoor adventure focused on how people and animals move through winter. Imagine being an early explorer crossing the mountains in snow!
Beginner-Friendly Snowshoeing: This guided program is designed for beginners and includes snowshoe basics and winter safety. Participants will meet at the Pikes Peak Gateway at 9:45 AM to pick up snowshoes and poles before driving partway up the mountain (restrooms available here).
On the Mountain: Weather permitting, the hike begins at the former ski area at mile 11.5 (10,600 ft) on the Pikes Peak Highway. The snowshoe hike is approximately 90 minutes round trip, with frequent stops for rest and learning. The pace is easy, though terrain may be steep.
