Event Summary
You will have the opportunity to interview unsung community leaders, make clay tiles and connect with new friends! We will have live music from Hot Boots Duo, food and drink specials from Kinship while support something incredibly special.
This event supports the Sam Dunlap Wall of Inspiration Mural in Southeast Colorado Springs. The mural is located under the MLK Bypass at the corner of Fountain Blvd. and Circle Dr. Sam Dunlap (1933-2019) was an unsung community leader who made major impacts in the Hillside and K-Land neighborhoods through coaching, mentoring and leading many youth to successful lives. Mr. Dunlap played for the champion all black baseball team in Colorado Springs in 1949 and 1950. He was also the first black Community Liaison for District 11. This mural is part of Governor Polis's Colorado 150 public art initiative. We will be unveiling this mural on August 1, 2026, Colorado Day, to commemorate Mr. Dunlap's legacy along with all the other community hero's involved.
