Event Summary
Grande Orquesta Navarre is a four-piece chamber music ensemble whose name is inspired by the imagined music played in the lobby of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel, the Orquesta típica (a Latin American term for a tango band), and the Navarre building in downtown Denver (a former Victorian-era brothel).
Composed of CC Summer Music Festival Artist Susan Cahill (bass), DeVotchKa's Tom Hagerman (violin, accordion), Evan Orman (bandoneon, cello), and Sara Parkinson (piano), the music of Grande Orquesta Navarre is a combination of tango, classical, and original compositions that is both delightfully anachronistic and refreshingly novel.
