Event Summary
A brass quintet opens Saturday night's concert with an arrangement of Mozart's Overture to Magic Flute, performed by Louis Hanzlik and a selected Festival Fellow on trumpets, Michael Thornton on horn, a selected Festival Fellow on tenor trombone, and John Rojak on bass trombone. Next on stage are Michael Kroth, bassoon, and Susan Grace, piano, with Dutilleux's Sarabande et Cortège, followed by Erin Hannigan, oboe, and guest artist Jenna Hunt, harp, with Alwyn's three-movement Suite for oboe and harp.
Grace returns to the stage with Scott Yoo, violin, for Clarke's Midsummer Moon, and again for movements from Coleman's Portraits of Langston, along with Elizabeth Mann, flute and Jon Manasse, clarinet. The program closes with Spohr's Octet in E Major, Op. 32, with Jon Manasse, clarinet; Michael Thornton, horn; Andrew Wan, violin; Toby Appel, viola; David Ying, cello; Susan Cahill, bass; and selected Festival Fellows on horn and viola.
