Event Summary
About the artist:
"In my 75 years, I have always been an artist in one form or another. Up However, it’s been only in the last few decades that I have gotten really serious about my art. I had a studio at home for a few years but later became a resident instructor at Cottonwood Center for the Arts. My studio is now located upstairs in the Sluice building in Old Colorado City.
In many respects, I am an outsider artist who has never had any serious artistic instruction but being an autodidact, I have managed to teach myself how to create artwork that not only pleased my interest but fed my imagination. What I have come up with is something that I call Techno-tribal Expressionism. Why? Because In its essence, it’s a form of abstracted contemporary art created by me and a few of my contemporaries who share a technical background and a tribal sense of the way we experience, thought and emotion with regard to what we create.
I enjoy color and texture in my work and I think what you will see in this show reflects that. Enjoy…" -Al B Johnson
