Event Summary
The Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb, started by Spencer Penrose in 1916, has now been running for more than 100 years. This presentation will look at how the race and the course have changed over time, how safety measures evolved and how the cars, divisions and classes changed to encompass new technology and respond to changing road conditions. Hear the humorous and serious stories about the Hill Climb that only Mr. Sanborn can tell.
Don Sanborn is the current president of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Historical Association (“Over the Hill Gang”) and member of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Museum Committee. Don, his father, Frank Sanborn, and his Uncle Nick Sanborn have all raced in the Hill Climb.
