Dear Production Manager / Producer,
I am writing to submit my resume for Location Scout / Location Support opportunities. I am based in Colorado Springs and bring more than 15 years of hands-on film, television, commercial, live event, sports broadcast, and production experience. While my background includes work as a Production Assistant, AV Technician, Camera Utility, and Camera Operator, that experience gives me a practical advantage in locations: I scout with the creative needs of the project and the real-world needs of the crew in mind.
I have a strong working knowledge of Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak region, and surrounding areas, including Garden of the Gods, Old Colorado City, downtown Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, the Broadmoor/Cheyenne Mountain area, Highway 24, Woodland Park access, rural and ranch locations, mountain roads, neighborhoods, alleys, rooftops, event spaces, and modern commercial areas. I understand how quickly weather, access, parking, and logistics can affect a production day, and I work to identify locations that are not only visually strong, but also practical and production-friendly.
My approach to scouting is organized, responsive, and story-focused. I look for locations that match the tone, visual style, time period, blocking needs, and practical requirements of the production. I also think ahead about backup options, crew parking, basecamp, load-in paths, holding areas, restrooms, power, sound concerns, staging, neighborhood impact, and weather contingencies.
Because I have worked on set in multiple departments, I understand the importance of clear communication and usable information. I can provide strong photo references, notes on angles and access, maps, approach routes, contact information, availability, rate details, and permitting considerations. I also understand the importance of respecting property owners, neighbors, local rules, COI requirements, fire restrictions, and city or county permitting timelines.
I believe good location work is more than finding a good-looking place. It is about helping the director, DP, producer, and production team make smart choices before the crew arrives. My goal is to reduce surprises, protect the schedule, and help production move smoothly from scout to shoot day.
