Check out these inclusive experiences that provide options to visitors with sensory needs, autism spectrum disorder and more.

Colorado Springs Airport

The Colorado Springs Airport participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program. Travelers coming to the COS airport can visit the Airport Information Desk to receive a sunflower lanyard, which discretely signals to airport staff that the wearer may require additional assistance or patience. Anyone may participate in this program, as there's no screening necessary.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

America's only mountain zoo provides KultureCity® sensory bags that contain noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools and a communication card. Attendees are alerted of "headphone zones:" parts of the zoo that may be louder and therefore require noise-cancelling headphones to prevent overstimulation. If attendees need to rest in a calm space, they can also find quiet zones, designated as a place to relax.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also hosts a Unique & Differing Needs camp that can accommodate a wide range of disabilities. Campers aged 7-11 with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders, developmental delays and more are welcome to explore their love for nature at this single-day program.

The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum

Explore the story of Team USA in the Olympic & Paralympic Games at one of the most accessible museums in the world. Sensory bags are available upon request and include special badges, weighted lap pads, fidget tools and noise-canceling headphones. Visitors can also request low-sensory versions of specific exhibits!

We Rock the Spectrum

This sensory-friendly indoor playground puts inclusion at the forefront of its practice. Everything in the gym, including play equipment, events and classes, is designed with children on the autism spectrum in mind. Kids can have a blast at open play sessions or attend camps.
