During cold months, you can take in snowy mountain views while enjoying a delicious cup of tea. Miramont Castle even hosts weddings and big events for all of the royal occasions in your life.
Originally built by Colorado Springs founder William Jackson Palmer, Glen Eyrie was founded in 1871. Palmer and his wife Mary "Queen" lived on the grounds with their three daughters until the estate was sold following General Palmer's death. Today the property still offers historic tours, teas, overnight stays, retreats and more. Tucked away behind Garden of the Gods Park, the castle offers a true hidden gem experience to locals and visitors alike.
Embark on a chilly adventure and fulfill all your Frozen fairy tale fantasies at the Cripple Creek Ice Castles. Explore icy tunnels and glittering caverns illuminated with color-changing LED lights. Race down one of their exciting ice slides and admire the meticulously crafted ice sculptures throughout the frozen maze. Over 21? Belly up to a frosty ice bar where winter-themed alcoholic beverages warm your bellies. Open through Feb 23, 2025.
The Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun serves as the final resting place of Spencer and Julie Penrose, as well as a memorial to beloved actor Will Rogers. Visitors can explore its intricate murals, fascinating sculptures and educational exhibits that share the history of the Shrine's construction, the Penrose family and Will Rogers' legacy. The Shrine sits at 8,000 feet of elevation and the road leading to it can be accessed through the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Admission is included with a ticket to the zoo.
Bishop Castle is a whimsical, hand-built creation tucked into the San Isabel National Forest. Constructed over several decades by Jim Bishop, this towering stone marvel features spires, bridges and even a fire-breathing dragon sculpture. Visitors are welcome to explore the castle's unique architecture with winding staircases and open-air balconies, all with breathtaking mountain views.
