Where the past is proudly preserved
Many know the area north of Downtown Colorado Springs as the Old North End, but here you'll find several communities with their own distinct charm and offerings.
The Old North End, Patty Jewett and Historic Uptown are three of the Springs' most storied and picturesque districts. With grand Victorian mansions, charming craftsman bungalows and wide shady streets, the Old North End is a place where families stroll past iron fences, runners loop through landscaped medians and students walk to and from class on the Colorado College campus.
The Patty Jewett neighborhood is named after the public golf course that forms the eastern edge of the community and includes mostly residential homes within a mature urban forest. Historic Uptown is a diverse and thriving urban neighborhood that dates back to the city's founding in 1871. It blends parks, restaurants, boutiques, museums, arts and culture and sports facilities all within walking distance.
Also part of this area are Roswell and Kitty Hawk. Roswell was once its own railroad town before it was annexed into the City of Colorado Springs. Kitty Hawk is just east of Roswell, running into Nancy Lewis Park. With so much history and unique character, it's worth exploring not just the Old North End but each of these surrounding communities.
Whether you're grabbing coffee, enjoying a date night or sipping on a craft beer, the neighborhoods north of Downtown serve it all with personality. You'll find some cool spots in Roswell's Lincoln Center, a renovated elementary school that's been part of the community since 1948. Patty Jewett favorites include Whistlepig Brewery and Good Neighborhoods Meeting House. And while you're at it, sit back and relax in Historic Uptown at community staple Dale Street Café.
This area is perfect for a leisurely stroll beneath leafy, tree-lined streets. Admire beautiful turn-of-the-century homes, then relax in nearby spots like Monument Valley Park and Nancy Lewis Park where walking paths, gardens and mountain views create a peaceful escape just minutes from downtown.
From hockey games to film festivals and art exhibits, there's no shortage of exciting events happening around the Old North End.
