The Destination Master Plan is a long-term view on how to improve the experience for visitors to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region, thereby generating economic benefits for the destination. It is intended to ensure that Colorado Springs will have the necessary attributes to compete in the future. The creation of the Destination Master Plan:

• Complements other planning initiatives in the community
• Approved by the CVB Board of Directors on June 19, 2018

A message from Doug Price:

Hello. I’m Doug Price, President & CEO of the Visit Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau.

It’s a great time to be in Colorado Springs – Olympic City USA. Whether you live here or are visiting for a meeting, event or vacation, exciting things are happening across the Pikes Peak region.

Outdoor recreation is one of the main reasons people live in and visit the region, with quick access to parks, trails, open space, mountains and public lands for endless opportunities to enjoy both the thrill and serenity of nature. Our cultural landscape is more vibrant than ever with a variety of museums and galleries and the Ent Center for the Arts opening soon. Additional retailers and restaurants are emerging in all cities in the region. The enhanced Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center is open to the public, and we’ve broken ground on the U.S. Olympic Museum.

Domestic and international tourism is rising. This year, more than 23 million people will visit our city creating a 2.3-billion-dollar economic impact that supports thousands of jobs.

The Destination Master Plan is not just about travel and tourism. It’s about economic development and how all the sectors of the economy work together. Think of it like this...

If you build a place where people want to visit, you’ll build a place where people want to live. And, if you build a place where people want to live, you’ll build a place where people have to work. If you build a place where people want to work, you’ll build a place where business wants to be. See, we’re not just competing for visitors anymore. We’re also competing for talent, investment and business; and coordinated destination promotion is critical in driving each of these.

Now is time for all of us to come together to chart the course for the next ten years. How will we share the Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak region story? What will visitors and residents experience? How can we all work together for a better future and let the world know we are Olympic City USA?
