Taking Care of Our Outdoors
Visiting the Pikes Peak Region? Help keep it beautiful.
If you’re as passionate about nature as we are, we invite you to be a part of preserving the beauty that makes the Pikes Peak Region such a special place to visit. Whether you’re hiking scenic trails, exploring iconic landmarks or simply taking in the views, your actions matter and can make a big difference! Help us protect our outdoor spaces, so future visitors can enjoy them just as much as you did. Together, we can ensure this place stays stunning for generations to come.
- Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and cut down on waste.
- Traveling with a furry friend? Scoop the poop and toss it in the right bin.
- Whatever you bring with you, be sure to take it back out—trash included!
- Enjoy wildlife from a distance and let them find their own snacks.
- Skip the crowds and explore a trail that's a little off the beaten path.
- Most importantly, be kind and courteous to fellow adventurers on the trail!

Visit Colorado Springs is a proud member of the Do Colorado Right Coalition (formerly called Care for Colorado) — a statewide alliance of more than 170 organizations established by the Colorado Tourism Office and Leave No Trace. The coalition is dedicated to educating Coloradans and visitors on how to help preserve Colorado’s cherished natural landscapes and cultural heritage through responsible travel practices.
Our Commitment
Visit Colorado Springs is committed to responsible and sustainable tourism by:
- Promoting Leave No Trace principles to both visitors and locals through our website and social media.
- Reducing overcrowding on popular trails and parks by encouraging visitors to explore a variety of outdoor spaces throughout the Pikes Peak Region.
- Inspiring year-round travel to distribute visitation more evenly across all seasons.
- Focusing on attracting visitors who stay longer and travel from farther away to increase economic impact, rather than simply increasing the number of visitors.
- Gathering outdoor recreational leaders quarterly (Pikes Peak Destination Stewardship Network) to align efforts and discuss strategies for protecting our natural resources.
- Actively listening to and collaborating with our community on public land use concerns.
