Alexea Veneracion Wins CTO’s Inaugural Rising Tourism Star Award
Veneracion was awarded at the 2022 Governors Tourism Conference in Snowmass, CO
Colorado Springs, Colo. – September 30, 2022 – On Thursday, September 22, Alexea Veneracion, Director of Communications at Visit Colorado Springs, was awarded the Rising Tourism Star recognition at the 2022 Governor’s Tourism Conference, presented by the Colorado Tourism Office. The award is new this year and recognizes an individual who has been in the industry for five years or less and demonstrated leadership, commitment and passion for the Colorado tourism industry.
Members of Visit Colorado Springs traveled to Snowmass for three days of informative seminars, engaging workshops and keynote sessions from industry leaders across the country and beyond. This year’s conference theme was “Together We Shine Brighter,” and the awards dinner recognized five other winners from around the state in addition to Veneracion.
”We’re very proud of Alexea for receiving the CTO Rising Tourism Star Award, but not surprised,” said Amy Long, the Visit Colorado Springs Chief Innovation Officer. “She has a passion for the industry and hit the ground running from the day she started. What’s most impressive about Alexea is that she shares her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm with those around her. She has raised the performance of our entire team, and we look forward to seeing what innovative ideas she has for 2023 and beyond.”
Veneracion started with VCOS in February of 2020 and has made a lasting impact on the organization and tourism community in the years since. She came from NextPR, a public relations agency in Colorado Springs, and has brought a spirit of innovation to VCOS.
Veneracion was named to Destination International’s 30 Under 30 program earlier this year and represented VCOS at DI’s annual conference in Toronto, Canada in July. During her time at VCOS, she has helped the organization launch a podcast, expanded existing social platforms to reach a greater audience and created a closer community of communications and marketing professionals around Colorado Springs.
