US Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs
The US Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs is home to training athletes and coaches as they prepare for the next Olympic Games. The facility is the former home of ENT Air Force Base and the headquarters of the North American Defense Command, officially became USOC administrative headquarters in July 1978. The Training Center is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time on the complex.
The Olympic Visitor Center hosts approximately 140,000 visitors each year. It is the primary facility providing the general public with information about the U.S. Olympic Committee, Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs, other Olympic facilities and the Olympic Movement.
The Center includes the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Rotunda, the U.S. Olympic Store, indoor/outdoor patio eating facilities, a 225-seat auditorium and meeting facilities. It also features numerous art exhibitions that change several times a year. Overhead, the rooftop terrace has an Olympic flame display and offers panoramic views of the entire complex and the Irwin Belk Olympic Path.
Free public tours of the Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs are conducted on a year-round basis by USOC Ambassadors. The tour includes a 12-minute film and 45-minute walking tour of the complex. Nearly 70% of the tour is out-of-doors. During the tour, visitors have the opportunity to view athlete training facilities including Sport Center Gymnasiums, weightlifting and wrestling facilities, the USA Shooting Center, Coaching & Sport Science, the Aquatics Center, and Sport Medicine. Life-size figures with narrative panels adorn the Irwin Belk Olympic Pathway and provide information about Olympic and Pan American Sports.
