The 2018 race will be a half marathon and 3 mile race.
The half marathon race starts at 10 a.m. at the Limekiln trailhead parking lot just past the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Visitors Center and entrance fee gate. The race course continues west on Talon, will turn right onto N Talon and right at about 3.3 miles onto the Dixon Trail. The race will continue up the Dixon trail to the top of Cheyenne Mountain. The race will return on the same course back to the Limekiln trailhead. There will be water stops at the Talon/Sundance and North Talon/Dixon trail junctions so that participants will have the same water stops going up and coming down the trail. There will also be water at the top of Cheyenne Mountain. Runners are also encouraged to carry a water bottle on the course. Elevation starts at 6,054’ and rises to 9,000’+. Trail turn around points are TBA.
The 3 mile race will start at 10:15 a.m. and will follow the Talon trail to the Sundance trail junction at about 1.5 miles. The 3 mile race will turn right onto the Sundance trail and return to the finish at the Limekiln trailhead. This is a loop course with one water stop at the Talon/Sundance junction.
El Paso County Search & Rescue will be out on the race course to provide emergency response.
Early packet pickup is from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct 19, at the Visitor's Center in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. You can also pickup your packet on race morning starting at 8:30 a.m.
