The Summer Music Festival presents this flagship event that also marks flutist Alice Dade’s first appearance on the Packard stage.
In addition to her work as flute faculty for the University of Missouri School of Music, Dade maintains an active performance career that includes concerto and chamber music appearances, recording projects, television appearances and guest principal performances in orchestras in Asia and Scandinavia.
The concert also features festival conductor and violinist (and Dade’s husband) Scott Yoo. Yoo is the music director and principal conductor of Festival Mozaic in California, artistic director of the Mexico City Philharmonic, and host of the upcoming PBS series “Now Hear This.”
Pianist Susan Grace, who has served as music director of the festival since 1987, rounds out the trio. A Grammy-nominated pianist, Grace is an active solo and chamber recital performer, recording artist, and member of the internationally acclaimed piano duo, Quattro Mani. She is also associate chair, artist-in-residence, and senior lecturer in music at Colorado College.
The concert will feature Poulenc’s Sonata for flute and piano, Rota’s Trio for flute, violin and piano, and Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata for violin and piano.
