Flatt Five is a new bluegrass and Americana band that calls the greater Denver area home. With a focus on original songwriting, strong three-part harmonies, and hot picking, Flatt Five combines the diverse musical experiences of its members to create a unique sound that evokes classic artists like Flatt & Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, Blue Highway and Union Station, all in an entirely new context that reflects the landscape of their Colorado home. Flatt Five is Todd Friesen on vocals and flatpick guitar, Matt Malick on vocals and mandolin, Justin Konrad on dobro, and Andrew Cameron on bass.
Winners of the 2008 Telluride Bluegrass festival band contest, the Blue Canyon Boys have performed across the country and were selected to represent the United States and bluegrass music at the 14th annual Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Malaysia, which has consistently been rated in the top 25 International Festivals by Songlines Magazine. This bluegrass powerhouse consists of Gary Dark on mandolin, Jason Hicks on guitar, Drew Garrett on bass, and award-winning Zach Daniels on banjo. Blending incredible brother-duet-style vocals and hard-driving instrumental proficiency, this energetic band has created an infectious brew of hard-driving Colorado bluegrass.
