This year the Pikes Peak Marathon will be part of the Golden Trail Series supported by Salomon. The Marathon is recognized as one of the top mountain trail runs in the world and the only race in North America to be part of the series. Many of the top runners in the world will compete in the race from Manitou Springs to the summit of Pikes Peak America's Mountain, and back. Registration for the race opened on January 1st and a limited number of spots may still be open. Future runners should be aware that you must qualify to register for the Pikes Peak Marathon.
The race will begin at Memorial Hall in Manitou Springs starting at 7 a.m. Spectators are invited to cheer and participate in the festivities, which includes a Street Breakfast at 7:30 a.m., the Marathon Block Party on Manitou Ave with music, vendors and awesome sidewalk sale, a beer garden, award ceremony, and the Salomon Finish Line Fan Zone. Activities are free and open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sections of the race will also be broadcast on a huge outdoor screen and exclusively in a handful of local restaurants and bars.
The Pikes Peak Run Fest will be held in Memorial Park, in Manitou Springs on Thursday, August 22nd. The public festival is from 5 to 8 p.m. and will feature music by The Austin Young Band, a beer garden, Community Market, merchandise sales, runner expo, and food vendors.
