Handel’s Messiah was completed on September 14, 1741, in just 24 days of feverish work. Handel chose Dublin, Ireland for the premiere because he and his music enjoyed great popularity with Irish audiences.
Messiah, with its great choruses and beautiful melodies, has continued its tradition of elevating the human spirit with the eternal magnificence of great music.
Director James Steven Harter will conduct the performance of Messiah with the Chancel Choir and full orchestra.
Joining in again this year will be the well-known professional singers, Amy Maples, soprano; Valerie Nicolosi, mezzo-soprano; Daniel Fosha, tenor; and Peter Tuff, baritone.
