“I am one of seven children. I share all my dysfunctions with five brothers and a sister. I am sixth in the birth order. Our Littleton CO household consisted of mostly males so our only television was normally set on any sports event that was going on. I entertained myself by drawing and experimenting with various art materials and selling my wares to kind neighbors for Christmas gift money."
"I attribute my interest in the arts to my mother, who loved all the arts, and was a concert pianist. My business endeavors came from my father, who was an independent and dominant business man in the community. The sports influence never left me, however. I am an avid road cyclist who enjoys extensive rides through the AFA, Garden of the Gods, downtown, Monument, Castle Rock, Vail/Minturn, and the Denver area."
"I was fortunate to achieve a B.A. in Arts Education, with a business minor, and a M.B.A in Communications from the University of Northern Colorado. I am the only college graduate in my family. I have had a wonderful career teaching art to middle and high school students for 34 years."
"During those years, I pursued my favorite role of being a mom to Dallas, Cody and Tyler, who are all on the verge of college graduation. I have been a single parent, which not only kept me out of trouble, but also away from my personal art for many years. In retirement and “empty nest-ville”, I have settled into a fantastic relationship with Tony (poor guy…he has been “roped in” to be my technical support with his expertise in building, cutting, and assembly). For the last 2 ½ years, I have been working as a framer for Academy Art & Frame Company."
The exposure to the many talented artists in the Colorado Springs area has made me realize my unsatisfied desire to create. The pleasure of retirement, the support and love of not only family but also many friends has pushed me back to my creative side. The result is what you see here. I’m grateful for it all, and for you… who values what I do enough to view it. I hope you enjoy my work.”
