In the mid-1950s, Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II were asked by NBC to create a musical of Cinderella expressly for television.
In 1957 it was actually broadcast by CBS as a vehicle for Julie Andrews, who played the title role.
The show was originally broadcast live on CBS in than black and white on March 31, 1957, and viewed by more than 100 million people and is the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written for television.
Starring Margaret Brophy as Cinderella and A.J. Lira as Prince Charming with a supporting cast of over 40 talented singers/actors and a full orchestra of 20-plus musicians, directed by Anthony Vicari, the Sunrise Players of Sunrise Church, Colorado Springs, will recreate that original production in stereo, three dimensions, and living color!
Parents and Grandparents are invited to come to relive this moment in our musical history with their families.
This production will be produced by the same team that has previously brought you Willy Wonka, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Wizard of Oz, among the 28 productions in their eleven years of productions.
