The World Figure Skating Museum & Hall of Fame is a one-of-a-kind experience for skating enthusiasts, from the casual fan to the serious competitor. Explore the history of skating, from the eighth century, when the earliest known skates were animal bones used for transportation or hunting across frozen waterways, to the present.
The museum has an unsurpassed collection of Olympic and World medals and costumes. A visitor can view original works of art, from Andy Warhol's painting of 1980 Olympic champion Dorothy Hamill from his 1978 Sports Portrait Series to modern pieces by five-time U.S. ice dancing champions Judy Blumberg and Michael Siebert, who used their skates as paint brushes.
The museum features permanent and changing exhibits. The World Figure Skating Museum & Hall of Fame's newest exhibit honors the members of the 1961 U.S. World Figure Skating Team who lost their lives 50 years ago on board Sabena Airlines Flight 548 en route to the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.
Tours are available for groups of 10 or more and can be reserved by calling 719.635.5200 ext. 450.
