Explore Gold Rush History Past & Present at The Victor Lowell Thomas Museum in historic Victor is a great place to explore gold rush history and the present-day gold mining legacy.
Pan for real gold and take a tour of the real, working gold mine.
The museum houses two floors of exhibits depicting life in Victor from its beginnings. The museum also displays memorabilia of famous author and world traveler, Lowell Thomas.
The gift shop offers books, historic maps and postcards, prints, and gold ore rocks, as well as videos.
Starting June 1 gold mine tours at the museum will feature the operations of Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company. Tours will offer the chance to see giant haul trucks, shovels and drill rigs in action in the large surface mine between Victor and Cripple Creek. All proceeds go to the museum.
The cost is $5 per person.
Tours are at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.:
June 1-30 Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays.
July 1-Sept. 4 Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays.

The maximum on each tour is 14.
In addition, while in Victor you can hike on the Trails of Gold and see up close 1890's gold mines that made Victor famous, or walk the downtown streets filled with historic buildings and shops - a quiet, historic mountain setting filled with sunshine and cool summer temps.
