The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, founded in 1936, is on the National Register for Historic Places. In 2007, the FAC completed a spectacular $30 million renovation and expansion. The Center is home to world-class art galleries, Broadway-worthy live theatre and an art school for the young and old alike with an acclaimed restaurant, Cafe 36, that features an amazing patio view of Pikes Peak, and unique shopping at LUMA at the FAC. With programs for individuals, couples, families and groups, the FAC is a place for artistic discovery. Wine tastings, galas, music and film round out the offerings at the top cultural attraction in the Pikes Peak region.
The FAC Collection features many masterworks by the top Modern American artists, including Richard Diebenkorn, Georgia O'Keefe, Walt Kuhn, John Singer Sargent and Dale Chihuly as well as artists connected to the renowed Broadmoor Art Academy. The FAC also has one of the strongest Hispanic, Latin American and American Indian collections in the nation. Upcoming exhibitions include: The Baroque World of Fernando Botero and NASA | ART: 50 Years of Exploration organized by the Smithsonian Institution.
The award-winning Fine Arts Center Theatre Company produces an annual season of classic musicals, comedies and dramas from October to June. For 90 years, arts education has been offered on the corner of Dale Street and Cascade Avenue. The Bemis School of Art offers a variety of classes for youth and adults.
