Cheyenne Mountain Zoo returned to "winter" hours of operation effective September 2, 2008. The Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission of the day at 4 p.m. My Big Backyard, with its animal contact area, tree house and oversized flowers, remains open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (The animal contact yard is open as weather permits.) Pony rides are offered daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weather permitting. Budgie Buddies are now open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the full exhibit immersion and feeding experience for guests available until the end of October. In November, guests access to budgies in the exhibit will be restricted by a barrier, though feeding of the budgies will continue. The Zoomobile and tram operate on weekends only, again as weather permits.
