Description:
Described as everything from amazing to wonderful, hot air ballooning has captivated people since mankind's first (successful) flight in France during 1783. Intrigued by bits of paper flying up a chimney, the Montfolfier brothers constructed a bag to capture heat from the chimney, unlocking the simple principle that when heat was added to air, it created lift. By using this principle, the brothers became the first people to master flights.
Today, modern hot air balloons still captivate the hearts of people around the world.
How cold does it get and how should we dress?
As a standard, hot air balloons in this area fly only at sunrise. Cooler temperatures are an asset but more importantly the thermal activity (wind) is normally calmest at the beginning and the end of each day. The flight itself is warmer than standing on the ground. Dress as you would for a walk outdoors on the day of your flight. A jacket is always easy to shed. During the cooler months, gloves and hats are suggested.
How much does it cost and how long will it take?
Flights scheduled at sunrise seven days a week, year around. Prices vary as to the location and type of flight as well as the number of passengers. Flights are subject to favorable weather and wind conditions as well as FAA regulations. The entire excursion will take 2 to 3 hours with aminimum of a one-hour flight.
After your flight
The crew will be awaiting you upon landing to celebrate the tradition of ballooning with a champagne toast. You will then be presented with a personalized flight certificate suitable for framing.
