Road closures

Various local Black Forest roads are closed. Latest information: El Paso County or Black Forest Fire Evacuation Map. Various local road closures due to the Royal Gorge Fire. Latest information: Royal Gorge Fire Incident Command. There are also multiple statewide fire bans.

Attraction Updates

The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park will remain closed. The Bridge is still intact with minor damage. Buildings on the property were a loss, but an assessment of the actual damage is still unknown.

Rafting trips are taking place through the Royal Gorge as well as all other areas of the Arkansas River in Canon City.

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad has resumed trips as of June 15, 2013.

Black Forest Fire (17.4 miles from Downton Colorado Springs)

100% containment

A wildfire in the Black Forest area northeast of Colorado Springs burned homes in a heavily wooded area Tuesday, and evacuations were ordered. Firest responders are on site, the fire is estimated to be 14,280 acres.

Royal Gorge Fire (58.2 Miles from Colorado Springs)

100% containment

A wildfire is burning near the Royal Gorge in Cañon City, CO (75 miles south of Colorado Springs). First responders are on site, the fires estimated to be at 3,216 acres. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM)  is asking the public to avoid the area of the fire.
