Welcome to Cañon (pronounced Canyon) City, Colorado, home of the world-famous Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. The bridge is an amazing 1,053 feet above the rushing Arkansas River. You can ride the world's steepest incline railway to the bottom of the incredible canyon, soar high above the chasm in the thrilling aerial tram, experience the grandeur of the gorge by traveling  on the Royal Gorge Route Railway through the spectacular scenery of the Royal Gorge, or meet the white-water challenge of the Arkansas, the nations best rafting location, as it roars through the gorge. Many other wondrous and fascinating things await you in the Royal Gorge region. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities for the entire family year 'round.  Buckskin Joe Wild West frontier town adventures, your personally guided Jurassic adventure at the World famous Dinausaur Depot , hunting, fishing & the best fly fishing in the nation, boating, bicycling, golfing, hiking, swimming, camping, horseback riding, ATV trips and mountain climbing are all available in the area.  Canon City also offers shopping in our Historic Downtown, a taste experience at the Winery at the Holy Cross Abbey, and you can experience the history of the Pikes Peak area by touring the Gold Belt Byway which includes two exciting and very scenic routes from Canon City to Cripple Creek, our local gaming town some 9,000+ feet in the mountains. There's plenty of fun, excitement, beauty and spirit in the Cañon City area.
